You Think You've Found An Injured Bird... Now What?
It's never easy to decide the best course of action when we find an injured animal or bird. Watch this page in coming weeks for additional information
on what you can do if you think you have found an injured bird. For the time being, here are a few tips:
- DO put the injured bird in a shoebox lined with an old towel or t-shirt
- DO keep the area quiet with no loud noises
- DO NOT try to give water or food
- CONTACT a local wildlife rehabilitator via telephone first, before bringing the injured bird
Some birds fledge on the ground. It may look like a baby bird without a mother nearby. We recommend you keep an eye on the bird for some time. You may see the mother bird come back, which is normal.
